Full sun year round garden in zone 7?

I am new to gardening. We recently ripped out some big overgrown bushes from our front yard and would like to replace it with something that grows no taller than 3'-4' tall as we would like to keep our nice window view. I am totally clueless and have been trying to research online but it's very difficult. We have a 9x9 space and I would like to fill it with some nice, easy to take care of plants that stay green all year and produce flowers/edible fruit(if possible). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Maria

There's also https://www.garden.org/plantfinder/ It's a searchable database. You can input what you want, height, color, type of plant, edible, fragrant, whatever and what your USDA hardiness zone it and it will give you a list of suggestions. We could help more if you say what the sun exposure is and soil type.

Rainbow, that's a great site! Thank you for the link! I've bookmarked it, and I know I definitely will find it useful. :D
