Planting Tulips

If I plant tulips in shallow beds will they bloom earlier than otherwise? We live in downstate New York and will be gone most of May, when our bubs usually bloom. I'd like to plant so that we can enjoy the blossoms in either late April or late May. I have the bulbs ready for planting in hand. Any ideas anyone?

Planting them too shallow will only cause the bulbs to freeze you will not get blooms any earlier.
You could try forcing them.
