Wedding Flowers

Hi all,
I am a beginner flower gardener (apart from companions for my veggies) and have offered to grow some red and yellow (Spain colours) flowers for my friends wedding in mid June! I think I'm going to grow pots of flowers to dot around the place and guests can take them home as gifts. Any ideas of what flowers I can grow?? Any ideas welcome, I'm a total novice!!!!

Hi Biscombe,

Wow, quite an undertaking for a novice. I would suggest you contact a local university or arboretum to see what would be in bloom in June and when to start the seeds. The hardiness zones in Spain range from 6 to 10. Without knowing your zone it would be most difficult to say when to start the seeds indoors or even outdoors.

Here are some gardens that are open to the public in Spain.

There is the Jardi Botanic - University of Valencia, Valencia, Spain
Jardin Botanico Atlantico.

Here's some others I found.

You are so very welcome! Have a wonderful drive and take lots of pictures and notes. :D Don't forget to write down the botanical names as well as the common ones. Then we can search.

Do you need a site on how to start plants from seed?

I think I'll be ok, I'm used to starting veggies from seeds just not flowers!
