Howdy all. I've been so incredibly busy this spring/summer that I've rarely stopped by. Now that I have a minute, I thought I'd share a few pictures. Things are good here. I hope they are with you as well.
Lettuces all did fantastic:
Onions as well. Big shout out to Dixondale Farms:
Red Russian Kale:
Carrots:
And finally, see if you can spot the visitor to my pea rows?:
As far as updates go...kale, collards, onions, turnips, and peas have come and gone. In their place I have about 11 tomato plants, several yellow and green squash, several cukes, several peppers.
Still going are some carrots and broccoli, Brussels sprouts, and various herbs, etc.
Also started another big round of basil (wife makes pesto and freezes it to last the entire year), parsnips, green beans, and another round of lettuces.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something...sigh, oh well...

Nice looking kids. I can tell you are rightly the proud parent. Congrats on your productive garden. Nothing like those fresh veggies and fruits. Farmers markets come close, but still lose out to the home grown stuff! My Dixondale candy and candy apples aren't nearly as large as yours. Would really LOVE to grow Spanish onions, but alas we are in the indeterminate onion zone.

I started them in late March. Mine didn't really ever go hello, but they did start to fall over at the neck. That's usually my cue to pick them.dtizme wrote:Looks like you've had a good start to your year. Just curious how long those onions took. I got about 40 spanish onions growing right now. I planted 30 on the may 24 weekend. Started them from onion sets. I thought I read you pick them when the tops start to yellow. Just curious. thanks
Thanks all for the nice comments. Should have maters, squash and cukes when I return from vacation...assuming my house/dog sitter can keep things alive until I get back.
