Getting there! You will need to hurry with the lettuce -- do you have them started already? If starting from seeds now, choose leaf lettuce varieties and find a spot that will have morning sun and afternoon shade, or shade during most of the the mid-day sun hot hours.

I tried doing seedlings last year and pretty much failed. I didnt get the results I wanted. I usually buy the plants I want. Is there any benefit to doing seedlings besides being cost effective.

My number one reason for growing from seeds is the nearly unlimited variety choices. 2nd reason is I control how they are grown -- what growing media, fertilizer, etc.

Looks great but you have a short season so you need to make sure you get everything in on time.

Yeah, the sudden weird drop in temperature isn't helping....

....btw.... Why are some of those (useless for) tomato cages upside down?

Yeah tommyblaze -

Like applestar asked, what's up with the upside down cages? They look like they are stable and would get you another foot of height. Is that right?

Also, I like your tiered raised beds. How did you build them? Soil all the way down to the ground?

And, how did the forest soil-worm hunt go?

I put upside the down cages for my squash.I have limited space, last year in my other garden they took up major room. Iam going to try train them to grow up instead of out and have the squashed exposed at the bottom. I didnt build the raised beds I bought them. The soil is down to the ground but I hope no roots make it there because I used sand to level the ground. There was a huge tree there and I couldnt get the stump out. If I had to do it again I would build the raised beds because they were $100 each on sale and pretty much broke the bank for the garden.

Er.. What was that you were saying? :>
Looks like you already need a jungle safari outfit -- machete and compass in hand -- emerging with the basket of goodies "whew! I made it back!"

... ... Maybe I won't post the latest photos of my gardens ... ...

Lol apple I just hope I don't get diseases from all the plants touching. For being over crowded everything is still producing. I currently have 20 black krim tomatoes on one plant, I don't know if that is alot but from what I have read I thought black krim wasnt a big producer.
