Gryphon's Garden

Was able to put a garden in this year. Sorry don't have any before images. But its coming along nicely. Even got what is either pumpkins or watermelon growing in my compost pile. And the last images is of a little squatter I found out behind my woodshed between the shed and a box used for composting. Sleeping like a rock, I got within a foot of it and all it did was roll over.

It is a small groundhog, and so far neither of it's parents have pestered the garden. They live in the field behind me. I am just as content to live and let live. Should problems arise, I will be eating groundhog. Plain & simple.

Wish I would have gotten some pictures of the beets we grew. They were around the size of softballs, all pickled up. YUM!!!
In the compost we have zucchini as well as pumpkins growing. So here are a few pics of what we have gotten out so far.

Got a few more items out of the garden today. Another MONSTER ZUCCHINI. Tomatoes are finally starting to turn they are hanging like grape bunches.

LOL, little squatter is a ground hog? Couldn't tell what it was at first. Those little things can be mean! I had a tiny little one charge right up to me while crossing the road and was glaring its teeth at me.

Your harvest looks good. I love your yard and surrounding, so beautiful. Do you have a pond as well?

How do they taste? Do you have to slice them up thin to roast or grill?

No I do not have a pond on my property though there is one in the field about 100yds or so away. The little groundhog was either injured or sick as a short time later he was dead.

The medium large ones aren't bad. We usually fry them up in the pan with salt&pepper. Though we did do a mixture of eggwash FryMagic, garlic powder, parmasean cheese and dill, then deep fried O:) heavenly!!!! Other than that, this year and last have been the first for eating zucchini in more than bread. Not too much that compares with a nice fresh warm slice of zucchini bread with butter.

I like zucchini at about size of cucumbers, cut into 1/4" round disks then into 1/2 disks added to pasta sauce. They also have a good texture and taste nutty fresh in salad.

Looks like you are getting a lot from your garden. Congrats! :D

Here are some pics of the latest harvest and some from earlier. I was too lazy to crop them down to the right size to post here so I just put them on my photobucket.
