Hi everyone. I'm new to your forum here, but I'm hoping I can get some thoughts from you all on a new rose from Weeks Roses that we just had hybridized, called the Heather Lenkin Rose. I'm personally really excited about it, and I want to see what the rose loving community had to say. Here is the link. https://lenkindesign.blogspot.com/
I'll check back to see what you think. Thanks!

minnesota_girl, I have wanted to include roses in my landscape for many years but didn't. This winter (when I try to get in a lot of research) I learned that rosa rugosa are very hardy roses. And since they are easy plants, perfect for new rose gardeners. They tolerate poor soil and prefer not to be fertilized heavily. Avoid putting them close to the sidewalk if you live on a busy street. And they usually have bigger rose hips as well as an abundance of them. I was going to put off growing them until next year until I read this. I was sold on the word "easy".
The price of the ones I bought were inexpensive so I bought three to try them out. The hubby shook his head because he thinks rose bushes are a waste of money, based on his inability to grow them years ago. But, I must admit my then puppy, Reba, helped kill them off because she couldn't resist eating them. Yes. I am laughing. It was funny then and still funny now even if the hubby has never found it at all amusing.
Anyhow, try some inexpensive rosa rugosa bushes - I'm a first time rose grower too. I can't wait to enjoy the benefits of my rose hips and plan on planting more rugosas - would like some white ones.
