Can roses catch potato/tomato blight?

Hello,
I bought new growing compost and planted tomatoes and potatoes in tubs. The tomatoes caught blight and gave it to the potatoes!
They are all now dead and plant matter cleared away. :(
I have bought some new rose bushes and want to plant the tubs up with them. Can I use the old growing compost, ?? can the roses catch anything ?? They are big tubs - filled full of what was brand new compost, and I want to save money and use them, but not if they will kill my roses!!
My gut feeling is that the blight cannot cross species - can anyone advise me please??

Dawn

I don’t think roses can be infected by the solanacea blight either. Possible powdery mildew but that is more on cucurbits than solanacea. I think you will be OK.
