Roses & mothballs

Hi, I have a raised bed where I am planning to plant roses, but the planter also has had mothballs in it as well. Will the mothballs hurt the new roses? If so, what can I do??????

Mothballs contain naphthalene or paradichlorobenzene and are toxic to children and pets. It can also contaminate the soil and groundwater and its use is controlled by the EPA since it is a regulated pesticide that is only officially allowed in closets and in only in a closed container.
Will it harm the roses, probably not, will it harm the environment, yes.
