Yellowing on leaves

I also could use some help. I am new to roses and not sure what is causing these yellow spots and the yellowing of these leaves. any ideas? we have had a ton of rain lately so I am hoping that's all it is.

Re: Yellowing on leaves

While yellowing is one of those "it can be anything" scenarios with roses, some of the leaves show what appear to be black spot lesions so I would treat it before the nbr of affected leaves gets out of control... Summer weather (dried, etc) may help control it some. Feel free to dispose of the leaves in the trash (not on the compost pile) so the fungal spores do not spread around.

When El Nin~o-related rains hit my area for 2 months++, it defoliated many of the roses and I could not do much as the near constant rain "cleaned off" whatever I sprayed.

I don't mean to sound chiding, but your soil looks hard and compact and weedy. Your rose bushes will do better if you clear out all the grass and weeds, gently break up the soil with trowel and/or hand fork, so as not to disturb the roots, mix in some good garden compost to help keep the soil looser, and mulch well.

The best way to prevent diseases and pests is to keep your plants as healthy as possible!

Re: Yellowing on leaves

Thank you fore the advice! I don't mind at all! I am new to this and will take any thought you have!

I am happy to clear away more of the grass and loosen the soil. I inherited these roses when I bought the home last year and they were in bad shape. The couple that lived here were in their 90s and had not done much with the yard in years.

Thank you for taking the time to comment, I appreciate your help, Katie
