Eden climber rose cuttings

Tue Mar 25, 2014 12:13 am

Eden Climber is grafted, right? So that means if you take cuttings, they won't be as hardy, right? I am asking because I took 4 Eden Climber cuttings. They have big leaf buds already.

So, one cutting has baby burgundy red leaves. Another one is in the process of having tiny little leaves.

I don't really have an answer to your question, but it’s certainly interesting. I looked around online, but couldn’t really find any good information either. My guess is that you’re right—it will grow but just not be very hardy. I wish you luck with it though, and hope you’ll update us on your success.

While rose is often grafted onto very hearty stock. its not true to disparage the rootstock for a failing of the scion.

Rose is (often) grafted for the ease-convienence of the nursery, not the merits of root stock.

I was hoping others with more experience would answer. Sorry not to have commented.
Did you see this sticky thread? I guess it depends on the cultivar.

Oh yes, they're flourishing and I now have about five bushes that I expect to flower this spring!
