How do I remove centipede grass from roses?

'There's Got to Be... A Better Waaay...'

Remember the song?

It fits so perfectly for what I have to ask.

And I know, I've seen some answers here and other places. But not ALL other answers and ALL other places.

Is there any way to get persistant centipede grass from growing amongst the roses? Besides RoundUp (which I'm so mad at the grasses that I'm tempted to use anyway)? A relative suggested Preen for controlling use and it is doing a marvelous job with most of the other weeds and grasses (don't get me wrong, there's not THAT many, but...), but the centipede just won't go away. Is there anything out there that can keep this stuff at bay? My hands hurt!

You've gone the chemical route, so mechanical is all that's left.

Weeding or digging...not much of a choice... :?

Organic way would be corn gluten but you need a few seasons to get it under control; weeding until then...
