climbing rose question

Good Morning,
I live in a zone 6 area in Maryland. I live in a town house with a deck. I would like to put a climbing rose on the side of the deck for privacy and for it's color. I was thinking of building a 2ftx2ftx2ft box out of p.t. wood and lineing it with 1 inch thick styrofoam to help protect the plant from winter temps. Do you think this will work and do you have any others tip or advice I could use. Oh, the deck is also elevated and accessible from the 2nd floor. Thank You Mickey

Hello,

It is possible to grow climber in container, provided that you choose a smaller climber and not a too vigorous climber that requires you to change the container soon or prune too often.

To choose a climber, you need to decide where to place the container, as some climbers are skeptical to lack of sunlight, humidity, reflection from the wall, and wind.

Roses need at least 6 hours of direct sunlight and good air circulation.

Hope it helps.

Amitié,
Pixi
