Why Brown edges on white petals?

Hello,
John F. Kennedy White Roses Zone 8A Texas
I am a new Rose gardner, and I recently got a John F. Kennedy white rose. According to my Complete Guide to Roses From Ortho Books, it says the RIR is 6.2.

My question is the white petals have brown crisp edges when it the roses bloom. The foliage is a good green, and I can not find what is wrong with the rose.

Can anyone help?

Sounds fungal, although the lack of problems with foliage gives pause. Could be a water issue; frost seems unlikely in your area

Any other takes on this? Old rose variety; anyone else growing this?
