Climbing roses

Pic is hard to see but I planted two Climbing rose bushes in a 55 gallon drum cut in half this past spring. They did well, but fall is just around the corner. I was just wanting to know the best time to trim them and what nutrients I will need to add to the soil for next spring since they are growing in these containers.

Other than deadheading I only prune my roses in the spring, just as the buds start to swell. I use alfalfa meal to fertilize, and for my potted roses I like to give them a dose four times a year. I hope your roses grow well for you!
