So I have a rosebush (Snowfire) that has a lot of thorns all of a sudden and only on one stem. I was wondering if there is anything that I can do for it or if I'm out of luck and just have to dig up the plant and throw it away. Is it possible I can just cut that stem off I know my plant will go into shock but loosing one stem to me would be more preferable than to loosing the whole plant.
I would greatly appreciate any information you have to offer.
Rose rosette disease (RRD) needs more than excessive thorniness to be diagnosed. Let's hope that RRD is not what's affecting your rose! Here's an info sheet from the Virginia Extension Svc, with photographs, of affected plants.
