Please help. I purchased 3 containers of shrub roses where the bud union was planted below the soil. I was told that this was how "they" were advised to plant the bareroot roses in containers. Do I plant these roses at the same depth or should I expose the bud union? I've always had plants where the bud union (in my hybrid teas) was above ground. Any advice? Thank you.

If you live in an area with lots of cold weather, it is suggested that you protect the bud union by planting the rose as you describe. But in places like Texas where the winters are mild, we tend to plant them with the bud union above the ground.
