relocating minature rose.

Hi everyone, I am new here, looking for advise.

My Mother has just passed away and lives in rented accomodation, she had a minature rose, which I want to remove, to be planted by her grave later on, I realise it is probably not the best time to move the rose, but we have to vacate the property soon.
What is the best thing to do regarding pots, compost, care etc, also should it be pruned and when.
