irregular shaped holes in the leaves

I have 13 hybrid teas in different locations around the perimeter of my home. Sporatically some of the bushes have irregular shaped holes in the leaves like something ate the middles. The bushes look healthy and have been fertilized and fed with the Bayer product.

Can you post pictures? A few damaged leaves close together? Plus a close up of one leaf (top and bottom)? I was thinking of rose slug being your pest but a picture that shows the damaged might help.

I have the same problem all over my roses - front and backyard. It's just the roses that have them. No other plant leaves are affected. I thought it was cutter bees but the irregular size makes me think some kind of beetle or worm.

I had bagworms attack several junipers and one rose bush also was affected. It is now recovering. Barworms develop into some form of moth so if you have this issue with roses, plan on using Bt -Bacillus thuringiensis- (or squish them by hand, remove bags by hand, etc) or use insecticide that attacks worms in general. Treat infected bushes, all, as worms may attack nearby bushes next year.

I'm going to guess that, assuming you know that it's not Japanese Beetle damage, the next likely culprit is rose sawfly. These make full "holes" out of leaves, usually at the edges but sometimes at the base. If the skeleton of the leaf remains, then rose slug would be my next best guess.
