shady place roses?

Okay, I know roses need sunlight....lots of sunlight, BUT is there any type of rose that will grow and bloom in a shady place? The area is on a NW corner and it does get about 4-5 hours of good direct sunlight. The sunlight is mainly in afternoon. Any information would be very helpful as I want to add some color to this area and I have a passion for any kind of roses.

There are several beautiful roses to grow in the shade. Sounds like you get some sun. Roses can't grow in total shade. One of my favorites is a very beautiful old-fashioned rose that blooms in a lovely shade of pink. The bush is thornless making it an even better choice.(you can pick plenty of blooms,and not get stuck with thorns!) The name is "Zephrine Drouhin".

I have a lot of places in my yard like what yiu describe, and the following roses do well: all of the Knock Outs, Baltimore Belle, Pearl Drift, Ballerina, Marjorie Fair, The Faun, Betty Prior, Ghislaine de Feligonde, and Wasagaming.
