Do roses go dormant? I live in zone 8 and we got snow and my roses still didn't go completely dormant. They still had leaves throughout the year. They are mostly red right now...is that dormant?

Well, it's a sign. And dormancy here isn't dornmacny there to be sure but it's close enough.

Both you and Hay should think about replanting now, before new leaves start to break. Letting the planyt starrt in its new soil is a good idea, but be sire to take a bit of that older soil with you. Bareroot roses are always a crapshoot; some have secrets and make it work, but a bit of the old soil going along always works for me...

I did move the rose back in March, but it died. The poor thing was looking pitiful and not getting enough sunlight, but may have had other issues also. I did get a replacement and it is growing great in the same exact spot as the one that died.

Sometimes bad is bad, Hay. Glad to hear the replacement is a success...
