how to care for brand new climbing roses?

Hi all.
I've got an extremely ugly fence in my back garden :( so I decided that I wanted to grow climbers to climb up and disguise the fence.
I've bought 3 climbing roses, all of them very small plants, so obviously very young plants. The varieties are: Niceday, La Bamba, and Climbing Warm Welcome.
I didn't have any specialist rose compost when I got them, so I've planted then with plenty of well rotted compost, and in a nice deep hole, and made sure that they got plenty of water.
2 of them are still alive, but show no signs of growing, 1 of them, when I planted it, the stem fell off (This was the only stem) so I was left with just the root base in the soil. :?
How do I encourage the roses to grow? Will it harm them if I dig them up and re plant in rose compost, or is it best just to dig the compost around? Is there any kind of fertilizer that is good for roses? And the one where the stem fell off, is this going to come back? (I think it was healthy, the stem just got snapped off) Or is it best to replace that one with a new plant? :?
Sorry for all the questions on care, but I'm fairly new togardening, and even newer to roses but I love them so I just couldn't resist!!

Digging them up probably wouldn't be the best.

How long ago did you plant? What has the weather been like? Did you plant them just to their crown?

I use blood meal to feed my roses in addition to the compost. Make sure they are getting frequent watering until established.
