Finally a rose hip!

Out of my two rose trees only one of them have produced a rose hip. I stopped feeding them per instructions on the forum. Which was about a week before September, but one of the trees seem to not understand the fall season since it has produced about 14 roses (I counted)  and then still has buds ready to bloom. Well, I am not truly concerned since I have recieved advice from here about them being on their own time clock and that the weather down here has not helped. The rose tree that does has the hip only has about four blooms and a few buds unlike its little sister that refuses to stop putting out new shoots and buds. Oh, well I was just excited that I finally have a rose hip. I have been waiting for about a month and a half that was the last time that I started dead heading. But they would dead head themselves by dropping the stem that the bud was on all the way down to the closest set of leaves.........Oh, well I am just going to be patient with the other tree and I was just so excited that I finally had a rose hip I just had to share. Thanks for everything I hope they make it through the winter wiht flying colors.

Lots of plants confused this warmish fall; we have a rhody or two here at the nursery in flower!

That one hip will probably make a great meal for some passing sparrow; enjoy it while you can!

That's great you got a hip! Not to worry if the other doesn't though. Many of my roses never figure out it's time to settle down even though I follow all the rules, and then all of a sudden winter hits! It doesn't seem to harm them.
Best of luck with them, and let us know how they do in the spring!!
