Young Roses Pruning

I have heard conflicing statements on when exactly to prune your roses. I know that Feb. 14 is the day to prune back, but what if you have young roses in their 1st year of growth? Would you cut back some or as far as you would on a more established rose bush?

The more established roses were planted last spring, and summer. They have been in the ground for 8-12 months. They have had a good run, but they were looking leggie. I was thinking of trimming them back some so they can grow better.
