CAN YOU IDENTIFY THIS RED ROSE

I have pictures of it but don't know how to upload them onto this forum

The rose in question was bought by my neighbour a few years ago in a newspaper offer

It is rich deep red
huge flower - handspan width of about 6 inches
doesn't have many thorns and is strong upright
the flower seems to last a long time
the petals are dense
It is soooooooooooo beautiful
Now how do I put a picture of it on here

PS the camera is new so I really am struggling ATM

Instructions for posting photos here are in New to Helpful Gardener (which no one ever seems to read) under Helpful Tips and Suggestions for New Members.

In the meantime you could try checking

it's a searchable database of rose varieties. You can put in the color and all the other characteristics you are aware of and it will give you names of roses that fit that description. If you look up those names, you should be able to tell if it is yours or not.

Yeah, photobucket works real well, better than some of the other sites.

The first thing that comes to mind is rosa "Ena Harkness" but if you send the photos to David Austin Roses, they will identify it for you

They were not that helpful

I suggested two roses and they dismissed one but said it "might be the other"
The other was Hugh Dickson I think

Sorry the David Austin site didn't work out.

I am on the other side of London so it is quite a way AND it isn't my rose

I just looked at Ena Harkness and it doesn't look like this one and it isn't scented

I E-mailed Peter Beale rose growers about a week ago and this is what they think it is
Quite appropriate really as my Mother died 3 months ago
