Ok, here's how dumb I am about roses!

I had 10 rosebushes that were just tickled to death to be here, then last year, chipmunks ate the roots off of most of them, killing all but 2. The 2 that lived, I put in large planters, and they were happy and acting right. I also bought a few more, and put them in planters as well. Now, the leaves are turning yellow with black spots on them, and falling off. What in the world are they mad about now? They still bud and bloom, but the blooms only last a day before all the petals fall off. What do they need, and how do you keep chipmunks from eating the roots?

debo, sounds like your roses have Blackspot. A common rose disease. Take a look at this link. Sanitation and sulfur.

We don't have squirrels or chipmunks, not sure how to help .

Welcome to the forum.

Thank you so much for the response! It is in the mid to upper 90's here, with the humidity in the 80percents. Insane hot this early, and I guess that's what may have started this. But tomorrow, sulfur!
