WHY??????? I have 2 red climers, 3 pink bushes, 1 yellow something, and another reddish something.... I can't even keep one going.
I have long skinny branches without any leaves or roses except right at the top. The plants are alive but not flowers or leaves. Then I bought the 2 red climbers at the local place for half price. They looked a little sad, but again, I AM OPTIMISTIC.... Help, I love roses and would love to have at least ONE!

Where do you live? Where are the roses? north south east west side of house / next to fence on sunny / shady side / etc.
What kind of soil are they in? How were they planted? e.g., dug a hole and stuck rose in the ground; dug a hole, put some compost in it, spread out rose roots; what's a hole...
are the roses climate rated and, if so, is your climate favorable to them?

I bought roses, and I have a history of killing them.
So, I planted them in half barrels, I added compost, I used bone meal, fish meal, cottonseed meal, and some wood ashes to side dress them, I watered them carefully.
3/4 of them are alive, barely. Then, maybe, I figured it out. The dead one, didn't get as much sun. So, I have been removing weeds from the fence to allow more morning sun to the rose bushes. Maybe?
I have flower buds on the one that gets the most sun. So, perhaps I just need to open up the fence, and remove some Virginia creepers that call that fence home. Hmmm, it might even be poison ivy on the fence, but either way, it has gotta go! Goats like either one, so, dinner time!
