can I move an established lilac now?

I recently bought a house with a very messy and poorly-planned yard (shade plants in sun, sun plants in shade, trees growing into each other, etc) in zone 6a. There is a 6-foot lilac in the under a tree that only had one flower last year. Can I move this? Is now a good time to do it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated since lilacs are my favorite flowers! :)

When we remodeled our house two years ago, we had to move a lilac tree, to the sunny corner of our porch. It was about mid June when we actually got around to moving it. But we kept it well watered, and kept an eye on it, and now it is better than ever. We are in zone 6 if that helps at all.
