Planting lilacs near my foundation?

I'd like to plant some lilacs next to my house on either side and I just read that sometimes lilac root systems can damage foundations.

I found this article (https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/orname ... -roots.htm) with more details that basically says - they can if you have a shallow foundation by the roots growing under it - as lilac root systems are usually shallow.

Is this true?

My foundation is at least 6-7 feet under ground with our basement (I haven't officially measured it) but that sounds right giving a foot or 2 for where the basement windows sit.

Anyway, do you all think I'm safe still planting my lilacs close to my house?

I feel like this question was answered for me in my other post about pruning lilacs and root growth, I don't know how to delete posts, but the forum master is welcome to delete this.
