how to take cuttings from bush

My mom has a large lilac bush and I recently cut a bunch of stems to try to propagate but I am no means a pro!!! :D They are actually budding right now oi think I am goin to have a nice looking bunch in the house NOW WHAT TO DO?should I wait and then cut them a certain way? I am trying to surprise my mom and plant all around the yard so I need ALOT OF THEM help me please anyone thanks n happy growin

You might have more luck with a plain old division. Lilac is a multi-stemed bush. Just make sure you get a little root with a peripheral branch as it erupts out of soil.

Protect it (shade) for 6-8 weeks as roots rebuilt in the pot.
