How Do You Prune Lilacs Without Damaging Them?
How exactly do you prune lilacs without damaging them??

You don't this time of year. Lilacs have already set their buds for next year's flowers. If you prune them now, you will be cutting those buds off. Prune next year right after it blooms.
They really don't need much pruning, just cut out dead wood, cut off branches that cross and rub each other, cut off branches growing in to the center, so that light, water, air can still get to the center.
Also as soon as the flowers are spent, clip them off so that it doesn't set seed. If you let it go to seed, it won't bloom very well the next year.
