Wet Weather Lilac Problems Northeast PA

I have a question regarding my Lilac bushes. They were planted in the spring of 2010 on the top of a boulder retaining wall on the side of my house. They had thrived very well until the last month or so. When Hurricane Irene came through I noticed the leaves on the top of the bushes (about 20 of them) started to brown on the leaf edges. Then we got hit again with TS Lee and the damage spread throughout the leaves on the bushes. A lot of the leaves browned/curled and fell off. Most of the sites I visited regarding disease profiles suggested a blight issue. Since it is now late in the growing season, most of the remaining leaves are taking on their normal purple hue. Some bushes have been hit worse than others. I was wondering if others are having similar issues. Furthermore, will the bushes recover next year with normal leaf and flower growth?

Thanks in advance for your help.
