Do you eat lilac flowers?

I read that they are edible. Do you eat them and how they taste?

I have not tasted lilacs, but according to [url=https://whatscookingamerica.net/EdibleFlowers/EdibleFlowersMain.htm]What's Cooking America[/url]:

"Lilac (Syringa vulgaris) - The flavor of lilacs varies from plant to plant. Very fragramt (sic), slightly bitter. Has a distinct lemony taste with floral, pungent overtones. Great in salads and crystallized with egg whites and sugar."

Maybe I should try some then.

I'm not one who cares to munch on flowers, although many folks do enjoy that. About the most I do is toss my basil flowers into salads, after I pinch them off the plants.
