Here's an interesting one.

Every now and then I find one around the edges of my yard, but this is the first time I've ever seem one go to flower.

It's like a thick grass, with stems slightly rounded, similar to chives maybe. They grow in a single thick bunch. Stems grow to maybe 6" high.

The plant seems to like shade and grows in peripheral shady areas.

Anyone have an idea what this is?

Thank you.

It reminds me of Blue-eyed Grass — sisyrinchium — except those flowers look bigger ...twice as big? Maybe there are white flowered species...?

If I'm right, it's Ornithogalum (Star of Bethlehem) Quite toxic and spreads like crazy. If that's it, you will want to wear gloves to remove it.

Thank you both for your feedback. Researching both plants, I have to confess I'm really not certain what it is, but Star of Bethlehem appears more likely.

I did notice that it has spread very rapidly this spring... like Star is supposed to. Should be a very nice addition to the yard, as long as it doesn't get out of control.

Thanks again for your help.
