Plant ID, Please

I've got several of these growing wild at the back of my property near lake Michigan.

It's a bush that grows tall rather than out wide. Most are 3' to 5' tall, but one that competes with some vines for sunlight appears to have gotten up to 10' or 12' feet tall.

It produces large pink flowers, round and maybe 3" to 4" inches across. Unfortunately I don't have a photo of those, but I'm hoping the leaves are distinctive enough to identify it anyway.

Any idea what it might be?

Thank you.

rose of sharon — sometimes called hardy hibiscus— unfortunately not native (asia) and capable of growing into a weedy thicket from seeds.

but relatively easy to control — pulls out easily and very soft easy to cut down.

attractive to butterflies and bees, hummingbirds.

available in dark pink, light pink, white flowers.

Thank you so much, Applestar!

These plants make an attractive cluster at the far edge of my back yard. I definitely want to keep them around and encourage them to grow more flowers. Now that I know what it is I think I can do that.

I found some good info on managing them in this article -- https://www.thespruce.com/rose-of-sharon-bush-2132728

Thanks again.
