The height and the current pink color reminds me of some very large hydrangea paniculatas (sometimes referred to as Pee Gee hydrangeas which can even turn into a small tree) but, I cannot tell for sure as the shrub is too far away. The blooms normally start white in Spring and turn a shade of pink in late Summer or Fall.

Can you get a closer picture of: the shrub (again), the leaves and the blooms? Hopefully you live near this shrub, in AU, as opposed to having visited and are now gone.
