Pretty sure this one is a weed, but I always like to know what I am pulling:

Looks more like Horseweed/Marestail to me. It is one of the most common weeds in eastern and central parts of U.S. It can quickly spread because it produces thousands of tiny seeds per plant that get dispersed by the wind and can germinate immediately.

Ooh I think you are right! I get those two mixed up. They get very very tall — I have them growing along the fence sometimes where the wind collects all kinds of debris.

Yup, I have them too. That's how I knew what they were. At first I thought they were some kind of flower...until I saw those seed pods opening up. I get them every year in places. They are easy to pull up, but you have to get them before the seeds are dispersed.
