Shrub - Rugose paired leaves, white flowers blooming now

This is a volunteer -- appears to be a shrub -- that I kept because of the interesting leaves. I think 3 years now and it has bloomed (may have bloomed one or two flowers last year but missed taking photo). Any clue what it is?

interesting. leaves suggest viburnum, blooms suggest dogwood...no idea, I'm afraid.
