Id needed

This is my first try with attaching a photo I hope it works and isn't too big. This is a low growing plant- probably just 3-5 inches. I do like the flowers but I have no clue what it is.

I would have said Sweet William but ..

. at 3" to 5", it must be a different species of Dianthus.

I think you two must be right. It is short- though on second inspection I think it's 6-7" or it has grown. There is a dwarf Dianthus barbatus which still gets bigger but can be that short. I wish catalogues would show better pictures. I'd never guess this is a dianthus because the spindly bits (garden newbie) are covered by the petals in the fancy pictures.

I believe I have those growing in a patch I planted with a pollinator attracter wildflower mix this year.

It is two year plant, it mean you need sow them when they give you a seed, to they grow well before winter... and then they will bloom next year. ;)
