ground cover for ID, please

This plant is a low ground-cover. It seems to intermix successfully with lawn grass in semi-shady areas. It grows low, but if challenged for sun, it will grow up to 6 or 8 inches tall to reach sunlight.

It's pretty common here in the black-dirt midwest/great lakes area. I bet someone here will recognize this right off.

Thank you for identifying it!

Yeah, you don't want this in your flower beds.

They are a herb, I enjoy the mint fragrance that come from walking on it. I also find it attractive in the shaded area it's color (blue, that I have here) makes a nice contrast. They are not fast spreading.
Here is some information and check out the many names it goes by.

Hey, thanks so much for the ID. It's very interesting reading about this plant. I have a lot of it mixed in with my grass lawn in the backyard, where it's fairly shady. I like it, and wish it would grow in thick enough to crowd out the grass. I'd rather have this pretty ground cover than more (worthless) grass to mow.

THanks.
