What flower is this?

Last year fall I bought a new house and moved in. This spring a couple of these beautiful fragrant flowers bloomed on the front yard to my pleasant surprise. I live in the Dallas area and never seen these flowers around before. Hope someone can identify it for me. Thanks!

Re: What flower is this?

Yup, indeed! Peonies are beautiful spring flowering perennials and they live forever! They are sturdy and cold hardy and rarely bothered by insects or diseases. Some peonies that were planted by pioneers on the westward migration are still going strong!
