Need help with plant id >> Basil

Need help - possibly someone will recognize. It is about a foot tall and the leaves are fragrant - is this a type of herb?

yes it did turn out to be basil - smelled great and got pretty big.

You are lucky. Sweet basil is very susceptible to basil downy mildew.

There are different basils, this looks like O. basilicum, sweet basil.

Basil is probably my favorite and most frequently used herb.

Basil mayonnaise, basil butter, basil in any kind of tomato dish, basil with fish, shell fish, pork, chicken
and veal. Basil in salads and soups. Basil with pasta and cooked or raw vegetables and squash.

and PESTO!! Every year I make up a bunch of pesto and freeze it. Midwinter get it out and have a pasta pesto dinner that is like concentrated sunshine!!
