is this an azalea?

this was my mother in laws plant. it was dying when we took over her house, so I moved it. it has pretty dark red blooms.

This is a peony. You are holding spent blossom trying to set seeds, so it would be best to deadhead.

Azalea and peony basically have opposite requirements. Peony is deep-rooted and extremely drought tolerant when established, needs well draining sandy soil in the sun.
