what is this irritating plant/weed

hi guys, can you please help me with identifying this problem plant in my garden and how I can prevent it from growing again, I have uprooted most of it,
I'm really curious to find out what is this plant. it grows along the wall .

It looks to be in the ginger family. It spreads by rhizomes so you need to dig it out or round up several times to make sure all of the root is killed. If you dig, you will need to make sure you get all of the roots out or it does regrow.
