Can anyone Id this flower

This flower came up in my sister's yard but she never planted it. She has no idea what kind of flower it is. I'm hoping someone know the name of this flower. Thanks for any help you can give me. Mollie

Yes indeed. Resurrection lily, sometimes also called naked lady, lycoris squamagira. It is called resurrection lily because in the spring it puts out a bunch of strap like foliage:

Then that all dies back and disappears. Months after it's been gone and forgotten, this tall leafless flower spike jumps out of the ground and grows and flowers very quickly, as if resurrected from the dead.

It is a perennial bulb plant. So someone at sometime planted the bulb.

So dragonharper, 15 min after you posted your question, you had a thorough answer with common name, alternate common name, scientific name, information about it's growth habits, picture to show what it looked like in earlier stage...

You are welcome.

Little lesson in forum etiquette. :)
