Can anyone identify this plant? (velvetleaf)

I have searched and searched and can't figure this one out. I thought at first it was a sunflower...then maybe what they call a Princess tree...but I don't think either now...take a look...and thanks in advance!

Also, I should add that the leaves are ENORMOUS with a very soft fuzzy surface and the seed pod looking things turn black when they dry up.

It is definitely velvetleaf. Interesting that we had two people write in about it, but it's the season for it to get tall and flower. It was in your garden all season. But I've never seen a red flowered one like that; usually the flowers are yellow.
