What is this?

Very tall plant (15 - 20 ft tall) growing along side the road in the front of my property.

Not 100% positive, but it maybe a Paulownia tomentosa (also known as the Empress Tree, Princess Tree or Foxglove Tree)

yup, sure looks like paulownia to me.

Thanks DoubleDog for posting the pic and for the identification. I thought perhaps they were trees, as they're starting to get "woody" looking now. Not a great place for big trees right next to the guard rail like that

paulownia's pretty cool in that if you chop it to the ground each winter, it'll do that every year - long tall stalks with giant leaves. I've seen people use it at the back border of perennial gardens like that.

the only problem with that being that you miss out on their flowers in the spring, which can be pretty spectacular.
