Unknown Iris like plant, tiny teardrop shaped rhizomes

Click for picture

There is a row of these growing by a fence - they are growing on the north side, so morning shade and afternoon sun. The soil isn't special but it's well draining enough.

The leaves are less rigid than an iris and the plant as a whole is smaller than a typical iris, but the way the leaves are growing in much similar to an iris.

The root system... I don't even know how to begin to describe! There doesn't seem to be one single tubar or rhizome or anything. Best way I can think to describe it is it has several small teardrop shaped tubars in addition to regular roots growing out from the base of the plant. The tubars also have roots growing out of them, but they are tinier than the other roots.

I have not seen this plant in flower yet (don't even know if it does).

Any identification help is greatly appreciated![/img]

I just had a reply from a friend on fb who also confirms it to be a daylily, and a quick google image search has me convinced that this is indeed what it is. :) Yay, I'm so happy!
