Bromeliad Guzmania rot?

Hi everyone! I just got this plant a week ago and I noticed something at the center of the bract. Is that a sign of rotting? It doesn't have any foul smell and I don't see any pests Is there any chance this plant is dying soon? Thank you all for your responses.

It looks to me like the bract just finished opening up. The plant will die after a couple months but it will send out pups the will bloom so it will keep going. This happens to all bromeliads after they bloom.
