Is this a clematis or something else?

I think the title says it all, but to clarify, I have been looking online to see if I can find what kind of clematis these are, but have not seen one that exactly matches. So now I'm wondering if it is something other than a clematis. What do all you flower gurus think?

A very pretty clematis too. It maybe difficult to find out exactly which clematis as there are so many now that look almost identical.

I believe my aunt-in-law had mentioned a name for it that was a man's name. I can't remember it now and I keep forgetting to ask her about that again. There are apparently quite a few varieties with various names.

At any rate, you've got a lot of blooms there and it's quite nice!

The commonest purple clematis is Jackmanii, but that's a much darker purple. Daniel Deronda? General Sikorski? Sir Garnet Wolseley?

Actually, that color is closer to the color of my clematis, but for some reason every pic I take of the flowers end up coming out a lighter shade than the actual flowers. It's probably because I keep using my camera phone instead of my camera, because I am lagging on uploading the photos on it of the elephant seals from up the coast.

Does your phone have a touch-to-focus feature? On my iphone, I find tapping on something very light in color darkens the overall image and gives you richer colors. Tapping on dark things will lighten them, but also tend to wash out any lighter or more subtle colors. The whole business of getting phones to take decent photos is tricky, because you're dealing with a very small lens and you have little or no control over the settings.

I used to have a real camera, I swear.

It's a fairly new phone, only a couple months old, so I will have to check that out and see if it has that feature. Or maybe I could get it in gear and upload the photos on my camera, LOL!
